During the event, the students at the ITI engaged in a workshop on career opportunities for women in STEM, facilitated by Mr Sameer Shaikh from Lighthouse Communities. During this session, students were divided into five groups and asked to come up with career opportunity recommendations for Rani, a fictional character who is enrolled in the electrical trade in an ITI. The students came up with several solutions and also stated the possible challenges that Rani may have to face during the course of her career journey. The students also engaged in an activity to creatively showcase their vision of a dream career in STEM by posting sticky notes on a vision board.
60 girls pursuing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) courses at Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in Nalagarh, Himachal Pradesh were recognized and awarded ‘P&G Shiksha Betiyan Scholarships’ during the event. Shri. Ram Kumar Chaudhary, Hon’ble Member of Legislative Assembly, Doon & Chief Parliamentary Secretary, Town & Country Planning, Industries and Revenue, Government of Himachal Pradesh handed over the scholarships to the students, along with senior leaders from P&G India’s plant at Baddi. P&G Shiksha Betiyan Scholarship Program is continuing in Himachal Pradesh for the 2nd year in continuation and has so far given out scholarships to more than 100 girls in the state. These girls qualified for the scholarship basis merit along with financial challenges. Female leaders from P&G’s plant at Baddi also came forward to share their inspirational journeys and encourage the girls.
